Firewood Delivery & Product Information
Below you'll find answers to the most common questions about kiln-dried firewood, delivery across Ireland, sourcing practices, and ordering from The OneStopFuel. If your question is not answered here, please contact our team and we will be happy to help.
1. About Our Firewood
What size are your firewood logs?
Our standard firewood logs are cut to 24cm (±1cm) in length. The small variation occurs due to mechanical cutting and natural wood movement during kiln drying and ensures consistent performance while maintaining the natural structure of the timber.
Logs are medium thickness and suitable for most wood-burning stoves, fireplaces, and boilers.
We also offer thinner pizza logs, designed for controlled heat management where steady temperature is required, such as pizza ovens. Their smaller size allows users to add wood gradually and maintain consistent heat output. You can explore available firewood products here.
What is the moisture content of your firewood?
At The OneStopFuel, all firewood is kiln-dried to below 20% moisture content, which is the recognised industry standard for efficient and environmentally responsible burning.
Firewood at this moisture level provides:
- higher heat output
- easier ignition
- cleaner combustion
- reduced smoke and emissions
Lower moisture means less energy is wasted evaporating water during combustion, resulting in more usable heat. You can browse kiln-dried firewood options here.
Which wood species do you supply?
What can your firewood be used for?
Our kiln-dried firewood is suitable for:
- wood-burning stoves
- open fireplaces
- boilers
- pizza ovens
- outdoor cooking and heating
Different wood species and log sizes allow customers to select the most suitable option for their heating or cooking needs. If you are unsure which firewood is best for your setup, we recommend contacting our team via chat or email here.
2. Production and Sustainability
How is your firewood kiln-dried?
All timber is cut before drying and processed according to recognised industry best practices.
The OneStopFuel kiln-dries firewood in biomass-powered kilns fuelled by wood chips and sawdust, making the process efficient and environmentally responsible.
Typical drying times vary depending on wood density:
- Oak and Ash approximately 6 days
- Birch approximately 5 days
- Alder approximately 4 days
Denser wood species require longer drying because moisture is held deeper within the wood fibres. You can learn more about our production approach here.
Is your firewood responsibly sourced?
The OneStopFuel prioritises timber sourced from responsibly managed forests and works with suppliers aligned with FSC and PEFC forestry standards where available.
Responsible forestry supports sustainable forest regeneration, biodiversity protection, and the long-term future of wood fuel. More information about our sourcing principles can be found here.

4. Delivery Information
Where do you deliver?
The OneStopFuel delivers kiln-dried firewood nationwide across Ireland, including Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, and surrounding areas.
Delivery costs and estimated timelines are automatically calculated at checkout using your Eircode. Full delivery information is available here.
How long does delivery take?
Typical delivery times are:
- Dublin and surrounding areas 1-2 working days for orders placed before 10am
- Rest of Ireland 3-5 working days depending on location
During colder periods or peak heating season, delivery times may be slightly extended due to increased demand. Updated delivery details can be found here.
How is the firewood delivered?
Orders are delivered via nationwide pallet logistics partners selected by The OneStopFuel to ensure reliable service across Ireland.
Deliveries are made to kerbside or an accessible driveway location using pallet handling equipment. Customers do not always need to be present, and delivery instructions can be agreed once shipment is scheduled.
Are there access requirements for delivery?
Yes. Firewood pallets are heavy and require suitable access conditions.
Flat and solid surfaces allow the safest delivery. Gravel, steep slopes, or uneven ground may make pallet movement more difficult. If there are access considerations, please inform us in advance by contacting us here.
5. Storage and Best Practices
How should I store firewood after delivery?
Even kiln-dried firewood should be stored correctly to maintain performance and quality. Firewood should always be handled with care during unloading, moving, and storage.
We recommend:
- keeping wood protected from rain and snow
- storing logs off the ground where possible
- allowing good air circulation
Airflow is important because wood naturally exchanges moisture with the surrounding air. Proper ventilation helps maintain dryness and ensures efficient burning. You can read more storage tips here.
